What's New for 2013/14 - cloud-soft yarn

I am delighted to announce my new launch Chic, an economical and versatile yarn that is perfect for knitters who want to get the most out of their knitting: one 130g ball can cover a very large project!

Chic - a huge 130gram/4.58oz ball of cloud-like cotton. 230m/251yds

The popcorn-like bubbly texture is plush and soft, delivering a scrumptious feel to fine and chunky knits. Unlike a typical thick'n'thin yarn, it is thick and substantial with clever twisting to make the yarn finer here and there. Like wool, it is very warm for the fall and winter months.
Chic comes in 6 trendy and family-friendly shades; Misty Blue, Marshmallow Flirt, Stone Heart, Natural, Henna Goddess and Mulberry Darling.

For stockists please visit or contact our UK distributor Xenaknits

Sifa Silver Cotton Knitting Yarn in Three Colours

It has been a busy year for us!

We have worked hard on a fresh, new identity, expanded our team and especially have worked hard and long on the new colours of our Sifa Silver & Cotton Yarn, as well as developing amazing new labels for them. Sifa Silver is a pure cotton which contains 10% pure medical grade silver.

An all-season strong yarn, velvety smooth cotton yet as strong as rope and plied to prevent sagging - that horrible curse of cotton.

The original was, if followers of our yarns remember, very popular despite being available in only one colour! Obviously the undyed cotton made it extremely appealing to knitters, and recipients of knitted items, who have sensitive skin and allergy issues.

But, bowing to increasing demand - and also our desire to have some fun playing with colour - we have added two colours. There will be even more amazing colours gradually added, never fear. And we won't have to wait very long for them either.

We have two lovely vintage colours for now. The Moss Green:

The Earth Bronze:

And, of course, our always popular Natural, below, which is undyed. Please make sure you select skeins which are as identical in shade if you want to minimize shade variations. So, as ALL natural yarn brands will tell you - please ensure you buy a sufficient quantity of skeins for your project! Your LYS should be able to help you.

We have provided this advice on our website for a very long time now, so everyone is probably already aware of this. Still, reminders don't hurt!

When you combine natural cotton (a plant occuring in nature, affected by seasons and crops, unbleached) and silver in its most pure, ion form which can also produce some very unique yet extraordinarily lovely shades and textures, there will be some variations - some subtle some obvious. But, as we've been saying for several years now - it's what makes it beautiful and unique. The dyed colours do not tend to vary in shade much.

Here is a great place with friendly people and excellent customer service where you can grab some at introductory prices: Xena Knits

And don't forget, these are unique because they are natural. But once in a while you may come across one or two stores who may ignore or be unaware of what natural yarns entail and therefore be unhelpful in providing correct and fair feedback. They should not be making excuses for naturally occuring variations in natural yarn - period. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly for detailed information and helpful customer support if the only answer you receive from your retailer is "Oh, well, that's small local people for you." We are small and local for a reason. And you can't get 'natural' off a conveyor belt! I would recommend acrylic yarn from mass producer yarn brands if you want something uniform and predictable.

However, luckily there is a huge number of discerning knitters who believe in global awareness and enjoy supporting small brands and women entrepreneurs who strive to support a community in need somewhere in the world.

Please take the time to read about our community mission and all about Sifa Silver & Cotton here. Thank you.
